The Hailuo maker’s third-generation model makes 2K clips with stereo sound and leads the image-to-video board.
What happened
- On July 31, the Chinese company MiniMax released MiniMax H3 (also called Hailuo 3.0) in its Hailuo AI app and through its developer service.
- It takes text, pictures, video and sound together and makes clips of 4 to 15 seconds in 2K, with stereo sound made in the same step.
- MiniMax later published a smaller version for download under its own community license, with limits on where and how it may be run.
- As of mid-October it is first on the Arena image-to-video board and third for video editing.
Why it matters for you
Image-to-video is the tool for bringing old family photos to life. H3 currently leads that board, and the Hailuo app is easy to try. The downloadable version matters for privacy (footage can stay on your own computer), but read the license before you use it.
