Google made Gemini 3.5 Flash its default model and launched Gemini Omni, which makes and edits video.

What happened

At I/O on May 19, Google released Gemini 3.5 Flash, built for coding and long tasks, and made it the default in the Gemini app and in Search’s AI Mode.
Gemini Omni Flash creates and edits video from text, images, sound or other video. It is in the Gemini app, Google Flow and YouTube Shorts for paid users.
Gemini 3.5 Pro was promised for June, but kept slipping.

Why it matters for you

Making and editing short videos with AI is now a normal feature of tools many people already use. For courses and marketing, a short explainer video no longer needs a studio.
