An unnamed model topped the blind video rankings in April. Then Alibaba said it was theirs.
What happened
- In early April, a video model called HappyHorse 1.0 appeared on public leaderboards with no maker named. In blind votes it rose to the top for text-to-video and image-to-video, and led the video editing board.
- On April 10, Alibaba said it had built the model, in a unit called ATH (Alibaba Token Hub).
- It makes clips of up to 15 seconds in 1080p from text, a picture or a person’s photo. It is offered through Alibaba Cloud, the Qwen app and its own website, first as a limited beta.
- By mid-October newer models had passed it: it is sixth on the video editing board.
Why it matters for you
Launching anonymously lets a lab test its model in fair, blind comparisons before the brand gets involved. The quick fall from first to sixth in six months shows how fast video models improve: check the model watch before you pay for a yearly plan.
